According to a CNN poll, about 33% of Jewish voters in New York cast their votes for Mamdani, while 63% supported independent candidate Andrew Cuomo, and only 3% chose Republican Curtis Sliwa.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump previously called Jewish voters who supported Mamdani "foolish people" and threatened to cut federal funding to New York in the event of his victory.
Mamdani himself has repeatedly emphasized that his criticism is directed solely at the actions of the Israeli government, and not against the Jewish people as a whole. The city’s electoral commission is expected to confirm the election results after the final vote count. The new mayor will take office on January 1, 2026, and 34-year-old Mamdani will become the 111th mayor of New York, the first Muslim mayor, and one of the youngest in the city's historical context.
