According to the agency, Amanakan Kenjebayev, the president's representative in the Osh region, along with the city mayor Jengishbek Toktorbaev, held a meeting with a delegation from Uzbekistan, headed by the Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov. The event took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, A. Kenjebayev emphasized that cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan has reached a new level, noting the participation of the Uzbek delegation in the opening of the monument to Alisher Navoi and the avenue named in his honor as an "expression of deep respect for the historical and cultural brotherhood of the two countries."
According to the president's representative, the spiritual heritage of Alisher Navoi is a significant value that fosters the rapprochement of the Kyrgyz and Uzbek peoples. The opening of the monument in Osh was characterized as an important symbol of cultural interaction.
Discussing key areas of cooperation, the parties noted the dynamic development of trade and economic relations and a number of significant achievements in recent years. These include the complete resolution of border issues, the transition of some border checkpoints to a 24-hour operating mode, the introduction of a visa-free regime for citizens with ID cards, as well as the reopening of pedestrian border checkpoints "Kara-Bagysh" in 2023 and "Kara-Suu" in 2024 in the Osh region.
As of today, Uzbekistan is the largest foreign economic partner of the Osh region.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their intention to deepen interaction, work together in the field of culture, exchange experiences, and implement joint projects.
