The monument was installed on a street named after the great poet. Among those present at the event were the mayor of the city, Zhenishbek Toktorbaev, the deputy minister of culture, information, sports, and youth policy, Askarali Madaminov, the presidential representative in the Osh region, Amankan Kenjebayev, the minister of culture of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, and other high-ranking guests.
The ceremony included the unveiling of the monument and a flower-laying ceremony, as well as a concert featuring theatrical performances and songs in Kyrgyz and Uzbek.
Zhenishbek Toktorbaev reminded that Navoi Park was established in 1968, where the poet's monument originally stood. He also mentioned that in 1991, the street on which the monument is located was named after Alisher Navoi.
The mayor emphasized the importance of the state policy aimed at strengthening borders, which is being carried out by the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, highlighting that the issues of border demarcation with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have been successfully resolved. "Our peoples have always been united, and all our cultural and historical values represent our great wealth," he noted.
Toktorbaev also expressed hope for the creation of a free movement zone between Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, similar to the Schengen zone, which would allow people to move freely without visas and passport control.
He also reported that by 2025, a significant increase in the number of Uzbek tourists planning to visit Osh and its surroundings is expected. It is anticipated that more than 800,000 guests from Uzbekistan will visit the city in the summer and spring, while more than 560,000 will come in the autumn and winter. In his opinion, this confirms the strengthening of fraternal ties between the peoples.
The Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, and the Deputy Minister of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, Askarali Madaminov, also emphasized the significance of Alisher Navoi's creativity and expressed hope for further development of relations between the two countries.
