In the city of Osh, a major street has been named after Abai Kunanbayev
An important ceremony took place in the city of Osh, during which two renovated streets were merged and now bear the name of the famous Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev. The event was held today, during which a new square with a museum and a monument dedicated to the outstanding figure of Kazakh literature was opened, the press service of the mayor's office reported.

The solemn ceremony was attended by Mayor Zhenishbek Toktorbaev, representatives of the presidential envoy in the Osh region, Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva, the Consul General of Kazakhstan in Osh Mukhtar Karibay, as well as local residents.

The area of the new square is 2,858 square meters. The territory features a monument and a museum, as well as recreational areas, paved walkways, and lighting and landscaping.

The bust of Abai and the park itself symbolize the friendship of the two peoples and create an important cultural space for the youth.
