The village of Telman, located in the Aiyl aimak of Synn-Tash in the Issyk-Ata district of the Chuy region, was named in honor of the famous German revolutionary Ernst Thälmann. This was reported to the correspondent of Turmush by the head of the library No. 16 of the village, Kalyman Almanbetova.

According to her, the foundation of the village took place between 1920 and 1925, during the Soviet era. Initially, it was a small settlement inhabited by workers of collective and state farms. From 1950 to 1980, the village developed significantly: a school, a club, shops, and other economic facilities were built here. Starting from the 1990s, local residents began to actively develop their private farms and agricultural enterprises.

The population of the village is approximately 1,230 people. The ethnic composition is diverse: Kyrgyz, Germans, Dungans, and Russians. Currently, there is only one German family left in the village, and most of the residents are engaged in agriculture and livestock farming.

“The main areas of economic activity include: the cultivation of agricultural crops such as beans, corn, onions, potatoes, cabbage, beets, and others; as well as the breeding of cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry. The village has many farms and private agricultural enterprises,” added K. Almanbetova.

The village has a school, a kindergarten, a health post, a mosque, shops, and small trading points, as well as a club/cultural center, which sometimes needs repairs. The infrastructure includes electricity, irrigation canals, and a drinking water supply system.

Regarding recent changes, she noted that new houses are actively being built in the village, and roads are being partially repaired. Private business is also developing, leading to an increase in the number of shops, workshops, and mini-markets,” she emphasized.
