The village of Chon-Tash, located in the Tyup district of the Issyk-Kul region, attracts attention with its unique nature and interesting history.

Kerimbek Emilbaev, a local resident, shared with a Turmush correspondent the features of his native village.

According to him, the nature here is stunning. On the elevation of the village stands a huge stone weighing about 100 tons. This piques the curiosity of tourists, who wonder about its origin.

According to one legend, this stone was formed as a result of a landslide. Local elders considered it sacred, and many came here to pray.

There is also a belief that a white horned snake guards the stone, circling around it constantly and visible only to a few chosen ones.

Another legend tells of a camel calf that never strayed far from the stone, and it too could only be seen by some residents.

Despite the lack of water, an apricot tree grows near the stone, which always bears fruit.

The village is located along the Tyup–Kegen road and is home to 144 families, totaling 1,387 people.
