Arsen Bazarbekov, a 25-year-old resident of the Issyk-Kul region, and his younger brother Kutmanali, who is 22, have completed the 115th day of their hiking journey, reaching the village of Zhon-Aryk in the Talas region. A Turmush correspondent spoke with them about their adventures.

Arsen was born and raised in Issyk-Kul; he has a twin brother who is currently abroad and is essentially their main sponsor. He received his education in Poland, where he studied business management.

Upon returning to his homeland, Arsen opened a Japanese restaurant in Bishkek, but unfortunately faced bankruptcy amounting to $150,000. To cope with the stress, he decided to spend time in nature, which sparked the idea of hiking across Kyrgyzstan.

Arsen began sharing his experiences on social media, and while he initially had about 2,500 followers, that number has now exceeded 100,000. Support and interest in his journey are growing every day.

Overcoming mountain passes has been a true test. The brothers traveled through Ala-Bel and Otmok in four days, camping in the cold, which made it difficult for them to sleep at night.

On the 37th day of the hike, Kutmanali joined Arsen, who also showed interest in this adventure. The first two weeks were tough; their legs swelled, but soon they got used to the physical exertion.

During their journey, the brothers encountered many memorable moments, including encounters with jackals in the remote corners of the Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions.

One of the most memorable events was an encounter with a local legend about a ghost in a red dress in the Kesken-Jer area, which was told to him by locals. This caused Arsen real fear as he walked through this desolate place alone.

The brothers continue their journey, moving from one village to another, and aim to set a record. They are warmly welcomed in each region, and with their mother’s support, they are confident they will overcome all difficulties.

In their family, there are four members: three brothers and one younger sister,” shared Arsen Bazarbekov.
