This village once played an important role in supplying the "Jetiy-Oguz" resort, attracting vacationers not only from various corners of Kyrgyzstan but also from other republics of the former Soviet Union. During Soviet times, Zeleny Gai remained in the shadow of the more famous Jetiy-Oguz, which became renowned as one of the most popular health resorts.
In the 1970s, the village actively supplied food products to the market, including honey and meat. Currently, about 100 people live here, united in 25 families.
Zeleny Gai is located in a picturesque area at the foot of Lipenka. The locals engage in livestock farming and dairy production, as well as beekeeping. Almost all the honey they produce is sold to the Jetiy-Oguz resort, where it is eagerly purchased by vacationers.
The villagers recall that during Soviet times they were often referred to as "hard workers." The status of the village was granted during the USSR era, and the name is associated with the surrounding area, where "gai" translates to grove or small forest.
According to the rural administration, representatives of both Russian and Kyrgyz nationalities coexist peacefully in Zeleny Gai. The locals engage in both animal husbandry and poultry farming, while some continue the traditions of their ancestors by practicing beekeeping.
"Many people still come here for honey from afar. Given the small size of the settlement, social facilities have not been built here. Children from the village have to go to school in a neighboring village," the local administration reported.
