The Jeti-Oguz Gorge is located 30 km west of the city of Karakol on the northern slopes of the Terskey Alatoo range in a gorge of the same name, which is over 40 km long. The Jeti-Oguz Gorge is one of the most beautiful places in Kyrgyzstan. For almost 25 km, Tien Shan fir trees grow on both sides of the gorge, initially in picturesque groups and then in dense forest masses.
At an altitude of 2200 m, a resort called "Jeti-Oguz" has been established based on radon-hydrogen sulfide hot springs. People come here to treat rheumatism, stomach, nervous, and skin diseases.
Jeti-Oguz, KyrgyzstanThe Jeti-Oguz Gorge flattens into the wide Kek-Dzhaiyk valley, overgrown with fir forests almost to the very top of the ridge. Above the forest zone (about 3000 m), in a wide valley about 15 km wide, there are magnificent subalpine and alpine meadows - jayloo. In the spring and summer months, the Jeti-Oguz Gorge is a real festival of flowers, among which the silver stars of edelweiss, alpine daisies and asters, and elecampane (golden root) stand out. The rivers Archa-Tor and Ailynash, which form the Jeti-Oguz River, originate from the northern slopes of the Karakol and Oguz-Bashy peaks.
The left side of the Jeti-Oguz Gorge is formed by the peak Kok-Debe (2700 m), located directly near the resort, and the peaks Podkova (3500 m) and Druzhba Narodov (3800 m). Through the depressions between the peaks Kok-Bel (2600 m) and Asan-Tukum (3600 m), one can descend into the neighboring Chon-Kyzyl-Suu gorge. On the right side of the Jeti-Oguz Gorge is the Kashka-Suu pass, which is located above the resort and offers an exciting journey into the upper reaches of the Yrdyk gorge and the "Karakol" zone.
The wildlife of the Jeti-Oguz Gorge is represented by the rulers of the highlands - snow leopards, griffons, and eagles, herds of swift goats, formidable bears, wild boars, roe deer, capercaillies, kokliks, pheasants, and other representatives of the region's fauna.
Jeti-Oguz, KyrgyzstanThe upper part of the Jeti-Oguz Gorge is closed by the multi-kilometer Jeti-Oguz wall, in the middle of which rises the beautiful double peak (5170 m) Oguz-Bashy ("bull's head"). On the watershed with the Karakol gorge stands the pointed peak Zhukova (4250 m). The climatic conditions of the Jeti-Oguz Gorge allow for tourism activities almost all year round. The At-Jailoo lake and the Kek-Jailoo waterfall, which is over 19 m high, can be used as excursion sites.
From the passes Alye Parusa (4500 m), Serebryanoye Sedlo (4640 m), and Bai-Tor (4500 m), a rare beauty panorama of the surrounding mountains and ridges crowned with glaciers opens up. It is impossible to traverse the glacier without special equipment. On hot days, the glacier reveals torn blocks and fractures. After a snowfall, the glacier takes on smooth contours, its cracks covered by treacherous snow bridges.
