The village of Talai, located in the Batken region, is a unique structure entirely built from flat stone and has been preserved since the 16th century, reports Turmush correspondent.

The village is situated at an altitude of 125 km southwest of Batken.

The main feature of Talai is the houses and fences made from unusual flat stones that have retained their original shape. Even the local furniture, including chairs and tables, is made of stone. Some of the building slabs are so heavy that they cannot be lifted by hand.

Talai can only be reached on foot by passing through the village of Zardaly, as there are no roads for vehicles. Of the 10-15 remaining houses from the 16th century, almost no one lives there in winter. Locals only come here in spring to collect apricots.

Additionally, the village has mausoleums where the Quran is recited. According to legends, heroes who died during persecutions while defending people are buried here.
