On December 21, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, was awarded the International Peace Prize named after L.N. Tolstoy.
In his speech, he noted that this award symbolizes a collective contribution to strengthening peace and stability in Central Asia.
The President emphasized that the region is currently transforming into a space of trust, mutually beneficial cooperation, and sustainable development.
“The importance of a final resolution of border issues in our region is beyond doubt, as it affects Eurasian security and geopolitical stability as a whole, as well as the strengthening of integration associations and regional formats of which we are participants,” Japarov said.
He also added that the agreements reached are clear evidence of the sincere desire of the peoples for peace, harmony, and good neighborliness. This aspiration is particularly evident among the residents of the border areas of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, who have lived side by side for many years.
In conclusion of his speech, President Sadyr Japarov quoted the words of the outstanding Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov: “The future of humanity is only possible through dialogue of cultures and peoples.”
