On December 21, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, received the International Peace Prize named after L.N. Tolstoy.

The award ceremony took place at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory and gathered representatives from the EAEU member states and observer countries.

The award was presented by the chairman of the jury, Valery Gergiev, who is the artistic director and general director of the Mariinsky Theatre and the general director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, to the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Sadyr Japarov, Emomali Rahmon, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev were recognized for their significant contributions to strengthening peace and security in Central Asia. The leaders of the countries signed the Treaty on the Intersection of State Borders and the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship on March 31, 2025.

The combined efforts of Sadyr Japarov, Emomali Rahmon, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who became laureates of the award, are aimed at establishing stability and sustainable development, which contributes to enhancing the international authority of the region.

In his speech, Sadyr Japarov noted that this award is a recognition of the joint contribution to peace, stability, and security in Central Asia.

He also added that the region is becoming an example of trust, good neighborliness, and mutually beneficial cooperation, leading to sustainable development.

"The necessary final resolution of border issues in the region is crucial for Eurasian security and geopolitical stability, and it also strengthens the status of the integration associations of which we are a part," the Head of State noted.

"The agreements reached serve as a clear example of the sincere desire of our peoples for peace and good neighborliness," he added, emphasizing that this desire is particularly evident among the residents of border areas, where citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan have coexisted for many years.

In conclusion of his speech, President Sadyr Japarov referred to the great Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov: "The future of humanity is only possible through dialogue of cultures and peoples."
