According to the press service of the regional Internal Affairs Department, the number of citizens who became victims of the platform, which attracted people with promises of earnings "for watching ads" and involved them in an online game, has reached nearly 300.
At the regional level, 277 cases of fraud related to the activities of VML_KG have been registered, each of which is undergoing checks and investigative actions.
According to complaints and statements, the total damage for the victims amounts to 31 million 866 thousand 987 soms.
On the air of the radio, police lieutenant colonel Cholpon Nazarkulova from the Main Department of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic indicated that the preliminary assessment of the damage reported by the victims from the activities of VML_KG is about 20 million soms, but the actual losses may turn out to be significantly higher.
To date, more than 230 statements have been registered from victims, and this number continues to grow. "We estimate that the total number of victims across the country may be between 10,000 and 12,000 people. The company operated through about 40 offices, each of which had 200-300 participants," Nazarkulova noted.
The lieutenant colonel also spoke about the principles of the scheme's operation. Participants were promised income for watching ads — up to 10 soms at a time, with the possibility of weekly withdrawals to bank accounts. The minimum investment amount was 4,800 soms, the average was about 27,000 soms, and the maximum was 69,600 soms.
Some families invested up to 1 million soms in total.
