The Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened nine criminal cases for bribery of voters

At a briefing held on November 30, the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sultan Makilov, announced the initiation of nine criminal cases related to voter bribery. In total, the police received 256 statements and materials regarding violations of electoral legislation, of which 59 were submitted before the start of the campaigning period.

According to the department's representative, the criminal cases were initiated in accordance with Article 196 "Bribery of Voter Votes" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Of these, five cases were registered in Bishkek, two in the Chui region, and two in the Jalal-Abad region. Currently, investigative actions are being conducted against 12 defendants.

He also emphasized that measures to prevent vote buying and similar offenses will be taken promptly in accordance with current legislation.
