According to the agency, among those detained were Akunova's daughter and nephew.
The investigation believes that they were involved in organizing the bribery of voters.
“As part of operational activities, a case of transferring 360,000 soms for the purpose of bribing voters was recorded. After receiving the funds, the detainees provided instructions on implementing the bribery scheme and collected lists of voters for further actions,” the statement said.
A criminal case has been initiated against them under Article 196 "Bribery of Voters" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The detainees have been placed in the temporary detention facility of the city police department. The Sverdlovsk District Court has determined a preventive measure in the form of arrest with detention in pre-trial detention center No. 1 until December 23.
Previously, the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums annulled the registration of Lyra Akunova and Gulnaz Khalilova (district No. 24) as candidates for the Jogorku Kenesh.
We remind you that both candidates are suspected of bribing voters. The police had previously obtained consent from the Central Election Commission to hold them criminally liable.
