Ministry of Internal Affairs: One of the candidates for deputies promised money for voters' votes

The suspect organized an event for activists


According to information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the candidates for the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh promised rewards for voters' votes.

Operational staff of the Service for Combating Extremism and Illegal Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received information that this candidate was ready to pay citizens in exchange for their votes for him in the upcoming elections scheduled for November 30. To this end, he invited people to a teahouse on Bayalinov Street in Bishkek.

In connection with these circumstances, a criminal case was opened under Article 196 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the investigation, it was revealed that on October 24 at 18:00, more than 15 citizens gathered at a cafe, among whom were activists respected in their community. The event, known as a "toiy," lasted until 21:30. The feast organized by the suspect cost him 19,300 soms.

All participants of the event were taken to the Investigative Service of the Bishkek City Department of Internal Affairs. The suspect, identified as K.S., born in 1980, was detained, and on November 7, he was given a written undertaking not to leave.
