In Bishkek, a 76-year-old neighborhood committee head from Kok-Zhar has been detained for vote buying

On November 22, the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the October District reported the detention of a woman suspected of bribing voters.

The incident occurred on November 20, when one of the residents of the Kok-Zhar microdistrict contacted the police. He reported that the chairwoman of the homeowners' association came to his home around five o'clock in the evening and handed his wife a campaign leaflet in support of a candidate for the Jogorku Kenesh. Inside the leaflet was 2000 soms, and the woman asked them to vote for the specified candidate.

A criminal case has been initiated on this matter under Article 196 ("Bribery of Voters") of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.

The suspect, born in 1949, was detained by law enforcement agencies, and an investigation is currently underway.

The Central Election Commission received 18 complaints from citizens regarding electoral district No. 22 in the October District, where 135,256 voters are registered. The boundaries of the district cover MTU-401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, as well as MTU-407 of the village of Kok-Zhar in Bishkek.
