Wanted: Daughter and Nephew of a Candidate for Deputy. Suspected of Bribery
The police, specifically operatives from the Service for Countering Extremism and Illegal Migration, discovered that a group of people was offering monetary payments for votes in support of a specific candidate. This fact was confirmed by the City Department of Internal Affairs.
Based on the collected materials, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 196 "Bribery of Voters" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the investigation, it became known that close relatives of the candidate for the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Lyra Akunova, were involved in organizing the bribery. In particular, this includes her daughter I.S., born in 1988, and her nephew T.Sh., born in 1998.
The investigation established that within the framework of this scheme, 360,000 soms were transferred. This money was handed over through the candidate's election headquarters, where relatives assisted in organizing the bribery by issuing instructions and receiving lists of voters.
On November 26, charges were brought against the relatives under Article 196, Part 2, concerning the bribery of voters committed by the candidate or their close relatives. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for them, and they were placed in the pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Bishkek, after which they were declared wanted.
