The number of victims continues to grow, which may lead to an increase in the total amount of damage.
According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the losses caused by the activities of the company VML_KG already amount to about 20 million soms, and at the moment, 230 statements have been registered from citizens who suffered from its actions.
The situation concerns a financial pyramid, the founder of which has been detained by law enforcement agencies.
As reported by Cholpon Nazar Kulova, an employee of the Main Department of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it is expected that the total amount of losses may increase, as new statements continue to come in from victims.
“We believe that the number of victims may reach 10,000 to 12,000 people across the country. The company operated through about 40 offices, each of which had 200 to 300 participants,” she noted.
According to the scheme, participants were promised payments for viewing advertisements — up to 10 soms for one action, with the possibility of weekly withdrawals to bank accounts. Minimum investments started from 4,800 soms, the average amount of deposits was about 27,000 soms, and the maximum was 69,600 soms.
Some families invested up to 1 million soms in this scheme.
It is worth noting that many people had previously approached the police with corresponding statements. As a result, a criminal case was initiated, and the 67-year-old founder of the financial pyramid, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, was detained.
