The name Vilena poses difficulties for many, and therefore she is often called Elena or Belena.
“I was born on September 2, 1987, in the village of Aral, in the Talas district. I was officially registered as Velena, although my correct name is Vilena. This name was chosen for me by my aunt. I was born in the Soviet Union, and my name incorporates capital letters from the name of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, which explains its beginning, VILena. Every time I meet new people, they usually ask me to repeat my name 2-3 times. Often, the question arises whether I am Kyrgyz by nationality,” Vilena shared.
When she first met her future husband, he perceived her name as Zelena, and that is how he saved it in his phone.
“In 2011, I got married. My husband's relatives quickly remembered my name. However, my husband prefers to call me Lena,” she added.
Vilena works as a methodologist at vocational school No. 41.
The couple has a son and a daughter.
