Alimpa Suleimanova, a resident of the Chui region, has become the new heroine of the "Unusual Names" column.

Alimpa was born in 1980 in the village of Shalta, located in the Sokuluk district.

“I have an older sister, two younger sisters, and a brother. In 1997, I graduated from school and enrolled in the Kyrgyz Economic University in Bishkek, where I studied finance and credit. I am married and have a 21-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter. My husband is engaged in private entrepreneurship and charity work. In 2007, I began my career as a specialist in the Sokuluk District State Administration. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music. My parents are retired,” Alimpa shared.

She also mentioned that her name was chosen in honor of the Olympics that took place in 1980 in Moscow.

“My father played football in his youth and was a goalkeeper. I was born in 1980, when the whole world was anticipating the Olympic Games in Moscow. Initially, my father wanted to name me 'Olympiada,' but at the registry office, he was advised to shorten it to 'Alimpa.' Every time I meet new people, they ask me to repeat my name. I myself am fond of volleyball and am grateful to my father for such a unique name,” Suleimanova said.
