Among the participants of the "Unusual Names" section is 46-year-old Zhashylgul Karabaeva, who lives in Talas.

She was born on March 12, 1979, in the village of Kyk-Kazyq, located in the Talas region. Zhashylgul is an ecologist by profession. From 1996 to 2002, she studied at the Faculty of Ecology at the Agricultural Academy and also obtained a certificate as a "chemical laboratory assistant." From 2002 to 2006, Karabaeva worked at Talas State University, and after getting married, she switched to private business.

“When people first hear my name, they either ask me to repeat it or express surprise. My father chose this name for me himself. He was a strict and decisive person. Back then, birth certificates were issued at the ayil okmotu, and when my father went there, he stated that he had a daughter born on a spring day. He wanted to give me an unusual name. The staff at the ayil okmotu suggested the name 'Jazgul,' but my father found it too common and ultimately settled on 'Zhashylgul.' As a child, I didn't like my name, but now I do. I also love the color green (in Kyrgyz, 'zhashyl'),” she shared.

Karabaeva noted that her husband is from the village of Ak-Zhar but grew up in Talas.

“At first, my husband's relatives were surprised by my name, but soon they started calling me 'Zhakie.' Once, when I was in the hospital in Bishkek, a professor learned about a patient with an unusual name and came to see me. He entered the ward and just looked at me. When I asked what was wrong, he explained that during his student years, he had a classmate named Zhashylgul, whom he was in love with, but fate separated them. He came in without knowing how old I was because he thought I was his old acquaintance,” said the owner of the unique name.

She also mentioned that a flower named "Zhashylgul" did not exist before, but now it does.

“This flower is called 'Women's Happiness' in Russian. It has white flowers. If 'Men's Happiness' is not nearby, the flowers turn green. I often joke that I resemble this flower: when my husband is not around for a few days, my mood deteriorates,” Zhashylgul added.

Together with her husband, they are raising three daughters and a son.
