In the At-Bashinsky district of the Naryn region, in the village of Kara-Suu, a boy named Kailas Alymkulov was born, who has become the new hero of the "Unusual Names" column.

Kailas's father, Edil Ibraimov, is confident that his son has a unique name that is not found among anyone else in Kyrgyzstan.

According to Edil, he chose the name in honor of Mount Kailash, located in Tibet.

Edil expressed hope that his son will grow up to be as majestic and great a person as that mountain.

Kailas was born in 2022.

"When my wife was pregnant, we were told that we would have a boy. I started thinking about what to name him. Ultimately, I decided on the name 'Kailas.' I did not consult anyone, although my wife was against it. I insisted on my decision. Traditionally, the right to name a son should belong to my father, that is, the grandfather. However, relatives and my wife expressed their opinions, and in the end, I concluded that there are no other people named Kailas in Kyrgyzstan," said Edil Ibraimov.

Moreover, he mentioned that he has a great love for mountains, grew up among them, and even writes poetry dedicated to this theme.

"I respect the mountains. I could have chosen a name in honor of our local mountains, but I particularly liked this word," added Kailas's father.

Kailash is a mountain located in a remote and inaccessible area of Western Tibet, serving as a crucial watershed for South Asia. Four of the largest rivers originate in this region: the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali.

The summit of this mountain has yet to be conquered.

In 1985, renowned climber Reinhold Messner received permission from Chinese authorities to ascend, but at the last minute, he abandoned the idea.

In 2000, a Spanish expedition obtained permission to conquer Kailash for a significant sum, establishing a base camp at the foot of the mountain, but they were unable to reach the summit. Thousands of pilgrims became an obstacle for the expedition. Many international organizations, as well as millions of believers from around the world, protested against the ascent of Kailash, ultimately forcing the Spanish team to abandon their plans.
