Russia has outlined its priorities in the organization
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, stated that the country will do everything possible to prevent chaos in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
Starting January 1, 2026, Russia will begin its chairmanship in the CSTO, concluding the period of leadership by the Kyrgyz Republic. In this regard, the Russian Foreign Minister addressed the members of the organization and the international community.
According to Lavrov, Russia's chairmanship will be guided by the slogan "Collective Security in a Multipolar World: A Common Goal, Shared Responsibility." The participating states of the CSTO intend to unite their efforts to protect common approaches to ensuring international security.
In this context, Russia calls on its partners for mutually beneficial cooperation and joint work to create an architecture of equal and indivisible security in the Eurasian space, viewing the CSTO as one of the pillars of this system.
“We want the states of Eurasia to take responsibility for ensuring security and to determine the future of the continent themselves, without external interference,” Lavrov noted.
The CSTO was established as an authoritative association of allied states, whose activities are not directed against any countries and do not contain aggressive intentions. The main goal of the organization is to maintain regional stability and the well-being of its members. All decisions are made based on consensus, which allows for a balance of interests, and cooperation is built on mutual respect and good neighborliness.
Russia will continue to develop key areas of interaction, including the implementation of initiatives proposed by the Kyrgyz Republic during its chairmanship.
Our efforts will be focused on fulfilling the primary mission of the CSTO — maintaining peace and stability in the organization's area of responsibility, as well as creating conditions for the safe development of the member states.
“There is no doubt: we will not allow chaos in our common home,” the minister emphasized.
