In the village of Sary-Bulun, located in the Tyup district of the Issyk-Kul region, Gulnur Elchibaeva and her family are engaged in poultry farming. She started her entrepreneurial activities in the spring of this year.

Gulnur, born in 1991 in the village of Kairma-Aryk in the Ak-Suu district, is a seamstress by profession. Together with her husband, they are raising three children: two sons and a daughter. They got married 11 years ago and for a long time sought the opportunity to start their own business. "We live near the river and thought about raising poultry for a long time, but we couldn't start due to the lack of stable employment. Refusing child benefits, we received 100,000 soms through a social contract from the government and purchased turkey chicks and geese," she shares in an interview with a Turmush correspondent.

According to Gulnur, raising geese and turkeys is a profitable direction in poultry farming. "In the spring, we bought 65 turkeys and 15 geese, spending 17,000 soms on feed. The prices for turkeys ranged from 800 to 2000 soms, depending on their age. They graze freely on the lawn by the river. In anticipation of the New Year holidays, we started sales. The price for slaughtering turkeys can reach 3500 soms, and on average, they cost about 1800 soms. Geese cost 1500 soms, and adult individuals take good care of the chicks. We decided that raising poultry is more profitable than cattle. My husband sometimes goes to work, and I graze the birds with the children. It's not that difficult. We have already sold a small batch, leaving some for hatching new chicks, and we plan to expand the poultry farm in the spring," Gulnur explains.

The Minister of Labor, Social Development, and Migration, Zhyldyz Polotova, reported at a parliamentary meeting on October 2, 2024, that six people received interest-free loans of 200,000 soms. These loans are provided to those who have successfully implemented a "social contract." Previously, they had already received 100,000 soms to start a business.

In total, over the past two years, more than 12,000 people have taken advantage of the opportunity to receive 100,000 soms under the "social contract." According to the minister, it is planned to issue 1,000 such loans of 200,000 soms.
