In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, Tazagul shared that honey collection heavily depends on weather conditions. "In high temperatures, flowers secrete nectar poorly, but after rain, when the sun comes out, we can collect significantly more honey, and it turns out to be of better quality. This year we have a poor harvest, so the price of honey has risen to 800 soms per kilogram. Previously, we sold it for 400–600 soms. Every year we go to the market, and our neighbors are eager to buy," she noted.
Tazagul takes her bees to the pastures of Ravat and Kara-Moynok. Her assortment includes different types of honey, including last year's. After many years of working in a school, she decided to quit and fully dedicate herself to beekeeping. Every year she increases her apiary by 20–30 hives and plans further expansion.
In addition to pure honey, Tazagul offers special products with additives: with apricot kernels, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, raisins, dried apricots, and other ingredients. "The price for such honey is 700 soms per kilogram. Last year we collected about a ton of honey, and this year about 500 kilograms," she added.
Honey collection occurs twice a year—in June and August. In May, the hives are taken to the mountains, and in winter they are brought back for care. "Bees can suffer from various diseases, such as diarrhea and brood infections, as well as from mites. We take care of their treatment and prevention. We have regular customers who buy 20–30 kilograms at a time. Honey keeps well, so it sells gradually," Karataeva said.
Tazagul is a mother of seven children.
