In Osh, there is still a stable interest in mayda manti, which have remained in demand for many years. Locals and tourists come here specifically to enjoy this dish.

In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, seller Mukaram Mamaturdieva spoke about the labor-intensive process of making mayda manti:

“Every day I sell one large basin of mayda manti, which weighs between 8 to 10 kilograms, depending on demand. Sometimes I can't even sell one basin, and other times 2–3 or more go. People come even from Bishkek, and some take manti in frozen form to Russia. I have many customers. The main secret of their taste is the love with which they are prepared,” she shared.

To prepare mayda manti, flour, potatoes, and oil are required, as well as a lot of electricity. First, we mix water with flour to knead the dough, then we boil and mash the potatoes. The dough is rolled thin, filling is added, and then we cook them. Onions treated with hot pepper give it a special flavor. My son helps me from 9 AM to 9 PM,” Mukaram added.

Buyer Mohinur Khasanova emphasized that mayda manti are not only affordable but also very filling:

“When I make mayda manti at home, they are not as tasty as those from the market. Market manti are much better and more filling. A portion for 200 soms is enough to feed a family,” she said.

Today, the price for a kilogram of mayda manti is 400 soms. Last year, the price was the same, and in 2023 it was 350 soms. In 2014, 1 kilogram cost 200 soms.

Mayda manti can be purchased from 9 AM to 6–7 PM.

Currently, there are five sellers at this market offering mayda manti.
