In the Batken region, specifically in the Kadamjai district, the harvest of radish is ongoing. Currently, wholesale prices for this root vegetable range from 10 to 20 soms per kilogram, depending on its quality.

Farmer Zaidulla Saidov, who lives in the village of A. Masaliev, shares that the process of growing radish requires significant effort and careful attention. “Growing radish is not an easy task, and for a successful outcome, many factors must be taken into account. It is necessary to monitor irrigation, apply fertilizers, and protect the plants from pests. Seeds are planted with an interval of about 20 centimeters, placing 6-7 seeds in each hole. An excess of fertilizers can lead to the radish growing too large. Although some specimens can reach 5 kilograms, selling such large root vegetables at the market is not always successful. Radish harvested on cool autumn days has the best taste. If planted at the end of July, it will mature in 90 days. One kilogram of seeds, which is purchased in Uzbekistan for 2000 soms, is used at a rate of 10 kg per hectare.
From one hectare, it is possible to harvest between 60 to 70 tons of radish. The main variety we plant is “kiiyik tumshuk” or “deer nose.” However, despite a good harvest, selling it in local markets poses a significant challenge.

“The difficulties arise specifically with sales. Currently, we are negotiating with entrepreneurs from Bishkek,” adds Saidov.
