The village of Kyzyl-Adyr, located in the Aitmatov district along the Talas—Taraz—Suusamyr highway, has become a place where a queue of cars over 500 meters long is forming. People waiting in line are eager to sell beans to a private entrepreneur, reports Turmush correspondent.

Some of them have already been waiting for two days.

“We arrived at 4 AM and have only moved 200 meters since then. The reason is that only one entrepreneur is accepting beans. The queue behind us also exceeds 500 meters. The first ones to sell today have been waiting for two days. They leave their cars and walk away. This looks strange in our time. Moreover, it’s frustrating that red bean varieties are being bought for only 95 soms, while the 'shovel' variety, which we all planted, is worth only 75 soms. This year has been unprofitable for us. Diesel prices are rising every day, which is concerning. The land has been depleted, and yields have dropped to less than a ton per hectare, forcing us to sell beans at such low prices. We need to sell the beans to buy fuel and plant wheat,” they shared their concerns.

The situation with beans was commented on by the presidential representative in the Talas region, Ermat Jumayev:

“Currently, there is a difficult situation with beans in the Talas region. We are reaching out to entrepreneurs, but they report a lack of orders and money. Prices are falling daily. Last week, we purchased the 'tomato' bean variety with the 100 million soms allocated by the government at a price of 95 soms. In total, only 4–5 places in the region are accepting beans at 92 soms. We do not restrict entrepreneurs, but we ask them to find buyers for export abroad without lowering the price below 92 soms. Some of those who are purchasing now are sending beans abroad, but unfortunately, cases of price manipulation are also occurring,” he noted.

The current problem is related to the fact that Kyrgyz beans make up only 3–5% of the global market. This year, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Argentina have had good harvests, as they collect crops twice a year. Therefore, the price of beans in these countries is not rising. We hope that the situation will improve in the coming days and prices will rise,” Jumayev added.
