At the end of November, new prices for rough feed were recorded at the livestock market in Kara-Balta. Clover now costs 380–400 soms per bale, while the price of straw fluctuates between 180–200 soms.

Farmers note a significant increase in feed prices: compared to the harvest period, the cost has risen by 50–80 soms per bale. The main factors affecting the final price for buyers are intermediaries.

Seller Asylbek Murzaev shares: “Clover was sold from the field during the harvest for 170–200 soms. However, this price does not reach the buyer. One must consider taxes, field rent, irrigation costs, fertilizers, baling, fuel for special equipment, as well as loading and unloading. This year, loading a bale costs 20 soms. On average, the cost price of one bale is about 300 soms.”

In addition to production costs, farmers are also forced to rent trucks and pay for the transportation of hay to the market. All these expenses affect the final price that buyers encounter when purchasing at the market.
