Alisher Ismailov, who lives in Karakol, located in the Issyk-Kul region, is engaged in making chests for brides.

He was born on August 18, 1982, and after finishing school, he trained as a car mechanic. However, due to health issues, he was unable to continue in this profession and has a second group disability.

“I learned about the social contract program, applied, and received 100,000 soms, which I spent on tools and materials,” Ismailov shares.

He asked his older sister, who makes dowries for brides, for advice and decided to start making chests.

“I watched videos on the internet about how to make chests. If you focus, it can be done in 2 hours. First, I create the wooden elements, and then I work on the finishing, using fabric, beads, and threads. I make sets of chests in colors that match the main color of the toshoks in the bride's dowry,” Alisher shared.

The price of one chest is 1,800 soms.

“Some clients ask to rent the chests. The rental fee is 300 soms, but after returning, these chests require repairs,” he added.

Although Alisher has always dreamed of starting his own business, he lacked the initial capital.

In addition to chests, in his free time, he also makes barrels for honey using a lathe. One such barrel costs 4,500 soms.

Furthermore, Alisher is involved in the restoration of old chests.

“Clients come to me asking to restore their old chests,” the craftsman concluded.
