Azizai Aibashova is engaged in weaving ribbons for yurts.
Born in 1980, she currently lives in the village of Korgon, located in the Leilek district of the Batken region. Since early childhood, Azizai has been fascinated by the art of weaving and continues this tradition today.
In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, Azizai noted that she has been actively involved in weaving for the last 4-5 years; however, she took her first steps in this craft when she was only 10 years old. She has a secondary education and did not pursue higher education.
Azizai's work includes weaving ribbons on individual orders. She receives requests from craftsmen involved in the production of yurts in the Issyk-Kul region. Prices vary depending on the sizes; for example, a ribbon 10 cm wide costs 300 soms. Orders are divided into segments of 25 meters, and she can complete one such segment in a week or 10 days.
The work process takes place at her home, where she combines weaving with everyday household duties. Currently, she is assisted by 2-3 people to fulfill orders on time.
In addition to her craft, Azizai is also engaged in agriculture and livestock, which is typical for village life. She hardly knows any free time: every moment she tries to spend working, as she does not like idleness. "In the future, I dream of developing my craft and exporting my products abroad," Azizai shares her plans.
