Dastan Kamilov, who lives in the village of Maman in the Issyk-Kul region, engages in an unusual craft. He creates modern inlays from natural stone and wooden stands for them. According to the master, he discovered his talent and developed it by using information available on the internet.

In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, Dastan shared that he prefers to collect stones from streams. Processing the stones takes him 2-3 days: he cuts, shapes, and varnishes them. He even designed a special cart for collecting stones. The demand for his products is growing, and he is currently actively working on fulfilling orders, including sending about 10 inlays to Kazakhstan.

In his small workshop, Dastan uses stone-cutting tools to create unique shapes of stones, after which he begins the inlay process. Many clients ask him to make wooden stands, and he prefers to work with black wood. The prices for inlays vary depending on the type of stone, starting from 8,000 soms.

Sometimes, he is also brought more expensive stones for processing.

Dastan does not limit himself to local streams — he also brings interesting samples of stones from his travels. From these, he creates not only inlays but also vases. Making one piece takes about 3 days, but for particularly hard stones, the process can extend up to a week.

Thanks to his craftsmanship, Dastan receives orders not only from Kyrgyzstan but also from neighboring countries. He plans to expand his business and continue creative experiments.
