Safety expert Edil Marlis uulu emphasized in an interview with IA "Kabar" that issues related to driver training and the issuance of driver's licenses have existed for several decades. He stated: "The authorities are not indifferent to this problem. Efforts are being made to reduce the number of traffic accidents and decrease the number of casualties on the roads."
One significant step, according to the expert, will be the introduction of teaching traffic rules and basic driving skills in the senior classes of general education schools starting in September 2026.
"Recently, the problem of corruption in obtaining driver's licenses has been actively discussed. The term 'buying a license' has emerged, allowing people to obtain a license for all categories of vehicles at once, including motorcycles, cars, buses, and even trucks with trailers. This undoubtedly affects the situation on the roads and increases the number of accidents," he noted.
Sadyr Japarov, the country's president, also emphasized the need to improve driving culture. "Knowledge of theory is not enough; we face problems due to the reckless behavior of some road users. Many do not realize that a car is a source of increased danger," the expert added.
In his opinion, the reforms being implemented by the state should eliminate the human factor in the examination process. "It is necessary to completely remove subjective decisions and the possibility of agreements. Only then can we achieve real changes," Marlis uulu noted.
He also expressed support for the idea of introducing traffic rules classes in senior grades, which would allow graduates to take exams and obtain driver's licenses. "The president clearly stated that advanced driver training courses will be available for both school graduates and older individuals. Questions regarding the duration of training remain, and I hope that the state will provide clear explanations regarding these reforms to avoid misunderstandings. When information is distorted, the public receives it in an incorrect form," he concluded.
