Imran Subankulov, a resident of the village of Kara-Bulak in the Leilek district, recently returned from the USA, where he participated in an international mathematics Olympiad and won a gold medal. This was reported by a correspondent from Turmush.
Since childhood, Imran has shown an interest in mathematics, starting from the first grade. He is currently in the eighth grade. “I have been able to solve mathematical problems from a young age, which probably indicates my interest. The competition in America was not too difficult for me. Participants represented different countries, such as Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and others,” shares the young mathematician.

Imran's mother, Gülzara Kalyssova, emphasizes that her son's passion for mathematics began in childhood. “From an early age, he preferred large notebooks with 96 pages for math instead of the standard ones. His enthusiasm was so strong that teachers sometimes did not understand his true abilities. Imran also quickly solves Japanese Sudoku puzzles and knows how to fix calculators,” she recounts.

In November of last year, the family sent Imran to the international Olympiad, and after successfully passing the first round, he got the opportunity to participate in the competitions in the American state of Florida, where he achieved success. About 100 students from nine schools participated in the Olympiad.

Imran's parents previously believed that participation in Olympiads was only possible from the ninth grade, but for his preparation, they chose a private school starting from the sixth grade, where teachers help students develop their interests and prepare them in their chosen specialty.

“We hope that he will enroll in one of the best universities, even abroad. We believe that Imran will be able to make discoveries in mathematics,” adds Gülzara.

Despite his shyness, Imran is gradually becoming more confident. He is meticulous and responsible both in his studies and in everyday life. “Even if he is praised at school, he might cry from embarrassment. He knows how to manage money wisely, and although his handwriting is not perfect, he always tries to write neatly. Psychologists explained that when the brain is actively working, attention to detail may weaken,” concludes Gülzara.

Fifteen students from Kyrgyzstan went to the Olympiad, and two of them also won gold medals.
