As part of the "Our People Abroad" series, we will tell you about 34-year-old Kenesh Temirov, who currently lives in the USA.
Kenesh is originally from the Nookat district of the Osh region, but when he was in the first grade, his family moved to Naryn. "My parents were engaged in trade, and that's why we settled in this city. I graduated from Chkalov Secondary School in Naryn, and now my two sons study at the same school. After the ninth grade, I enrolled in the Kyrgyz National University College in the law faculty. In 2012, I completed my studies at the police college in Osh, named after General J. Shabirov, and began my career in law enforcement. I first worked in security, then moved to the patrol service of the Naryn Department of Internal Affairs. In 2016, I was transferred to the criminal investigation department of the city of Naryn, and later, due to circumstances, I moved to the Aitmatov district of the Talas region, where I worked for a year as a juvenile inspector. In 2022, I returned to Naryn again, but soon left the police."

In December 2022, Kenesh moved to Chicago, where he began his work. He became known for his blog on social media, where he shares the life of Kyrgyz people in America. "I started making videos when I faced difficulties in obtaining a driver's license. Upon arriving in the country, I didn't know the language and encountered problems with paperwork. To be honest, I was just following my friends. The first thing I did was get my driver's license and shared the process on social media, which raised many questions. That's how the idea of making educational videos was born, which quickly spread. This inspired me to continue creating similar content."

In Chicago, the Kyrgyz community began raising funds to acquire a mosque. At this moment, Kenesh met with guys who successfully ran a blog about the life of Kyrgyz people in the USA and joined them. "I was struck by how many, even with large families, willingly donated—some contributed money on behalf of their entire family, while others even donated their cars. We quickly raised the funds and bought a mosque. There are also actively conducted charitable events here. For example, we help transport the bodies of Kyrgyz citizens who passed away in the USA back to their homeland," he said.

Kenesh noted that there are no problems finding familiar food in Chicago, as there are many Kyrgyz restaurants here. "For singles, it's easier to find a partner since various events are held for the Kyrgyz diaspora, and the atmosphere resembles Kyrgyzstan."

Time in Chicago flies by quickly, as everything is related to work and finances. "I also work part-time with a truck, renting a vehicle and fulfilling orders. It's important to regularly undergo maintenance. The roads and work are strictly scheduled by hours. We have a community called 'Sak bol' ('Be careful'), which raises about $5,000 every month for charity in Kyrgyzstan," Temirov added.

His goal is to gain experience in the USA, save money, and return to his homeland to start a new business.
