In the village of Besh-Korgon, located in the Nookat district of the Osh region, there is an acute problem with educational infrastructure. The local secondary school, built by the efforts of the residents themselves, has been deemed unsafe for life, forcing hundreds of students to seek alternative places for study at a significant distance from home.

The construction of this educational institution began in 2003 on the site of an old chimney building, thanks to the initiative of the villagers. In 2007, the building, designed for 125 places, was officially put into operation. However, as early as 2016, the first technical conclusion was issued indicating its unsuitability. In December 2025, the plaster in the corridor and the computer science classroom collapsed, which was yet another signal about the condition of the building.

In January 2026, experts finally recognized the school as unsuitable for use and prepared a demolition act. The act noted serious issues: foundation subsidence, cracks in the walls, corrosion of wooden structures, a leaking roof, and dangerous electrical wiring. The building is not protected from adverse weather conditions.

Despite this, the number of students at the school continues to grow. With a designed capacity of 125 people, there are currently 311 children studying there. This academic year, 61 new first-graders have joined the school, and more than 50 are expected next year. In classrooms where three students sit at desks, the distance between them is only 30 cm, making it difficult to conduct laboratory work and group activities in STEM programs.

The lack of a gym, assembly hall, and workshops means that all events are held outdoors. After the incident with the collapse on January 17, 2025, the educational process was moved to the Kyzyl-Teyit school in the village of Zhanı-Nookat for the safety of the students. Now, students have to cover significant distances: 4 km from the village of Kyzyl-Teyit, 4 km from the village of Aral, and 7 km from the village of Kochkor-Ata.

The problem with the Besh-Korgon school has been discussed multiple times at public kurultays and meetings of the Jogorku Kenesh. On June 20, 2025, a delegation led by Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu visited the school and officially promised to build a new building. A plot of land measuring 1 hectare has already been allocated for this purpose.

The residents of Besh-Korgon hope that the construction of a modern and safe school will begin soon, especially after 10 years of waiting and the official recognition of the old building as subject to demolition.
