Nurse Aigul Kurmanalieva, who has 35 years of professional experience, currently works in the emergency department of the Primary Healthcare Center in the At-Bashinsky district.

She shared her experiences, career reflections, and views on the future with a Turmush correspondent.

Aigul was born on May 14, 1970, in the village of Bash-Kaiyndy, in a farming family. She received her secondary education at Chypai Asekova School. In 1987, she enrolled in the Naryn Medical College, where she studied to become a pediatric nurse.

Aigul began her professional journey in 1990 as a nurse at the blood center of the At-Bashinsky hospital, where she worked until 2004, gaining significant experience.

From 2004 to 2008, she held the position of a lab technician for HIV/AIDS at the Sanitary and Epidemiological Center. By the ministry's order, in 2008-2009, she returned to the blood center, continuing her work as a nurse.

Since 2008 to the present day, she has been working in the emergency department of the Primary Healthcare Center in the At-Bashinsky district.

- What motivated you to choose this profession?

- In my childhood, I dreamed of becoming a teacher and "held lessons" for my toys. I tried to enroll in the Arabayev University in the mathematics and physics department but did not pass. On my parents' advice, I chose a medical college, and since then, I have been working in this field. I love my profession and have never regretted my choice. Although I retired in 2020, I continue to work.

- What can you say about working in the emergency department?

- It is a very responsible job, as patients come here first and foremost. Our task is to provide emergency care and correctly direct the patient to the appropriate department.

- How do you cope with psychological stress?

- People come to the hospital not from a good life. Except for the maternity ward, all other patients have health problems, so it is important to show patience. Conflicts sometimes arise, but I try to resolve them peacefully and avoid escalation.

- What is your opinion on the future of nursing?

- Previously, all documentation was kept on paper; now we work with computer databases. I hope that in the future, the system will become fully electronic, and conditions in the hospitals of the Naryn region will be created like in developed countries.

- What advice would you give to girls who want to become nurses?

- Everyone should choose a profession based on their abilities. Those who choose medicine should study hard and love their work. In this profession, human qualities are very important; it is necessary to adhere to ethics and know both your rights and those of the patients.

- Do you feel tired from work?

- Yes, there are moments of fatigue. We work both day and night, and patients come in various conditions. Sometimes we hear harsh words, but this job has its joys: you help people and provide for your family. Our profession is interesting and diverse.

- Can you tell us about a memorable case?

- There have been many cases. For example, once parents brought in a three-year-old child who accidentally got glue in his eyes. We quickly rinsed his eyes with cold water, gave him a pain relief injection, and referred him to an ophthalmologist in Naryn.
