The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan has announced that Kyrgyzstan and Turkey have agreed to expand the direction of Kyrgyz citizens for treatment in Turkey within the framework of annual free quotas, amounting to 150 places.

These issues were discussed during a meeting between Health Minister Kanatbek Dospambetov and Turkish Ambassador Mekin Mustafa Kemal Okem. The meeting focused on free treatment, the development of medical infrastructure, as well as cooperation in the field of personnel and pharmaceuticals.

Dospambetov emphasized the importance of directing Kyrgyz citizens to free treatment, enhancing the qualifications of specialists, and developing joint projects and experience exchange. He also mentioned that work is underway in the country to modernize healthcare and build medical infrastructure at the direction of President Sadyr Japarov.

The Turkish Ambassador confirmed readiness for further cooperation, including issues related to organ transplantation at the Kyrgyz-Turkish hospital named after Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, organizing internships for Kyrgyz doctors in Turkey for a period of 3 to 6 months, as well as joint educational and pharmaceutical initiatives. The effective use of quotas for treating Kyrgyz citizens in Turkish medical institutions was also discussed.

An agreement was reached to activate the work on directing Kyrgyz citizens for treatment in Turkey, ensuring the effective use of 150 quotas, of which 100 are allocated through the Turkish embassy in Kyrgyzstan, and 50 through the Ministry of Health of the KR.

“Particular attention was paid to training personnel: the Kyrgyz side is interested in internships not only for transplant surgeons but also for specialists in fields such as oncology and cardiac surgery. The possibility of joint pharmaceutical production and technological support was also discussed,” the press service reports.

In addition, Dospambetov expressed interest in studying the operational models of multi-profile medical institutions in Turkey with the aim of applying best practices in Kyrgyzstan. He noted that a medical town is currently under construction, which implies the need to study the design, equipment, and management of medical complexes.

The Minister also added that the president places great importance on the development of the healthcare system, supports the modernization of infrastructure, the introduction of modern technologies, and the enhancement of specialists' qualifications, which creates the necessary conditions for profound systemic changes.
