According to the Republic Center for Health Promotion and Mass Communication, regular walks significantly reduce the likelihood of cardiovascular diseases.

Walking is considered one of the simplest and most accessible ways to maintain physical activity.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) rank among the leading causes of death worldwide. Research confirms that daily walks help prevent ailments such as heart failure, heart attack, and hypertension.

Regular walking brings numerous health benefits, including:

* strengthening the heart muscle;

* lowering blood pressure;

* controlling body weight;

* improving mood and cognitive abilities;

* reducing the risk of developing chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis.

Walking is not only beneficial but also practical, especially in urban traffic conditions. It helps avoid stress from congestion, saves time, and simultaneously maintains physical activity.

Recommendations for increasing physical activity:

Even sedentary individuals can walk about 2,000-3,000 steps a day. With moderate activity, this number increases to 5,000-7,000, while active individuals walk at least 10,000-12,000 steps.

How to achieve the goal of 10,000 steps?

10,000 steps equal approximately 7 kilometers or 1.5-2 hours of walking, which can be spread throughout the day.

If you usually walk one stop on your way to work, try increasing the distance to two stops. Avoid elevators and take the stairs, walk during your lunch break, refrain from using the car whenever possible, and allocate more time for walks in your free time.

To accurately count your steps, you can use a pedometer or install a special app on your smartphone.

Gradually increase your physical load: start with 2,000-3,000 steps and add 500 steps each day.

Your walking pace should be fast enough but comfortable for you.

For older adults, it is recommended to aim for 3,000-5,000 steps a day. Before starting any physical exercises, they should consult with a doctor.
