KTZ noted that in October, the control over grain cargoes by Chinese authorities became stricter. The process now includes sampling and laboratory analyses in cities such as Urumqi and Beijing, which takes from five to ten days. As a result, the number of trains passing through the Altynköl checkpoint has decreased from 14 to 6-10 trains per day.

“The presence of 3,000 wagons at the border exceeds the allowable number of rolling stock waiting for transfer. Previously, the acceptance of these trains was fully coordinated with the Chinese side,” KTZ clarified.

To prevent congestion and ensure stable operations, the company was forced to introduce a temporary restriction on the acceptance of certain export grain cargoes, allowing only three trains to pass per day.

KTZ explained that this measure is necessary to align shipments with the actual readiness of China's infrastructure, while the Kazakh railway network continues to operate as usual.

Earlier this year, the Committee for State Revenues of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported a slowdown in the process of passing vehicles from Kazakhstan to China. The agency assured that it is actively working with Chinese colleagues to increase throughput capacity.
