According to a report by The Athletic, FIFA announced that over 500 million requests were registered during the month of ticket applications for the 2026 World Cup.
Now, the International Football Federation will conduct a random draw for all 104 matches of the tournament, and the results will be known to participants in February.
It is worth noting that in October and November of last year, FIFA already sold about 2 million tickets, and only 4-5 million remain for the entire tournament.
The most sought-after matches include: Colombia vs. Portugal, Mexico vs. South Korea, the World Cup final, and Mexico's match against South Africa (the opening match of the tournament), as well as the Round of 16 game in Toronto on July 2.
According to forecasts, ticket prices for the most popular games may rise in February when fans learn the status of their applications, and those who do not receive tickets will have to consider resale as the only option.
FIFA will begin informing participants about the results of the draw from February 5 or later.
The World Cup will kick off on June 11 in Mexico City, and all 104 matches will take place in 16 cities across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
