According to the investigation, among the accused are citizens of Spain, Colombia, and Cuba, as well as a person with dual citizenship of Spain and Colombia. In 2024, they attempted to set fire to the production workshop of UAB TVC Solutions in Šiauliai, with the total value of the property targeted exceeding 4 million euros.
The first incident occurred on the night of September 17, 2024. Investigators claim that the arson was attempted by a citizen of Spain and a person with dual citizenship, but their actions were interrupted by passersby.
The second arson attempt was made on September 22, 2024, by a Russian and a Belarusian. They believed that the arson was successful and left the crime scene, but it later turned out that their actions caused no damage, as the means used failed to ignite the products in the company's warehouse.
Lithuanian authorities suspect that the accused acted under the direction of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, previously known as the GRU. According to police, the coordination of the crime was carried out by individuals located in Russia with connections to military intelligence.
Additionally, the investigation is considering the possibility of the accused being involved in similar attacks in Poland, Romania, and the Czech Republic. Currently, all of them are in custody in Lithuania.
There are also reports of an investigation into four more suspects, one of whom has been detained in Colombia under an international warrant, while the others are wanted.
Lithuanian authorities believe that the goal of the alleged group was to "intimidate society, hinder support for Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion," as well as to create an atmosphere of fear and distrust in Western countries and destabilize their political, economic, and social structures.
