
12 people were detained in the Uyghur district of Almaty region for burning a flag and images of foreign leaders. The press service of the police department confirmed that the incident occurred on November 13.
“An unauthorized gathering of a group of citizens was detained, who committed illegal actions expressed in the burning of the state flag and images of foreign leadership. As a result of the court's consideration of the case materials, 12 citizens were held administratively liable under Article 434 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with a sentence of up to 15 days of arrest,” the police press release states.
Additionally, six other participants were fined 20 MRP (78,640 tenge). A criminal case has been initiated in the police department regarding incitement of hatred, and necessary investigative actions are currently being conducted.
