A lawyer was detained in Osh in a case of extortion, according to information from the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan.
A citizen "A.G." appealed to the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic requesting action against lawyer "S.N.S.", who was providing her with legal assistance. The woman became a defendant in a case related to fraud, according to Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The lawyer assured A.G. of having connections with judicial authorities and misled her by claiming that he could influence the outcome of her criminal case in the Osh City Court.
Lawyer "S.N.S." guaranteed a positive resolution of the issue, offering assistance in imposing a sentence of probation or its deferral due to A.G. having a minor child. For his services, he requested 350,000 soms.
As a result of operational measures initiated by the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, a criminal case was opened. On November 3 of this year, the lawyer was caught red-handed in the building of the Osh City Court after receiving the money. During a personal search, he voluntarily handed over the funds he received as a bribe for the promised decision in the case.
The lawyer is currently in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, and investigative actions are ongoing.
