It became known that earlier the GKNB and the Osh branch of the National Bank had already held several exchange offices administratively liable, imposing a fine of 17,500 soms. However, the owners continued their activities illegally, which became the basis for initiating a criminal case under Article 218, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan, concerning illegal entrepreneurial and banking activities resulting in substantial income.
On October 26, during large-scale searches at the exchange points at the checkpoint, 116 objects were identified, of which 84 were operating without the necessary licenses.
As a result of the searches, the following amounts were seized:
- 66 million 490 thousand 671 soms,
- 941 thousand 360 US dollars,
- 3 billion 635 million 527 thousand 600 Uzbek soms,
- 3 million 531 thousand 200 Kazakh tenge,
- 66 million 729 thousand 142 Russian rubles,
- 170 Tajik somoni,
- 29 thousand 890 Turkish lira,
- 23 thousand 361 euros,
- 53 thousand 920.5 Chinese yuan.
All illegal exchange points were closed and sealed, and investigative activities are ongoing.
