Nazarkulova is known as the chairwoman of the committee defending the rights of borrowers. Under her leadership, this organization actively fought against what the activist herself describes as "harsh and unfair" conditions imposed by banks on their clients regarding lending and mortgages.
She organized rallies, advocated for the revision of citizens' debts, and criticized banking institutions for mass foreclosures on borrowers' homes. Throughout the 2010s, she repeatedly warned that problems with loans could lead to a social crisis if the government did not take action.
According to information from GKNB, the human rights activist allegedly demanded 50 thousand dollars for a "favorable resolution of the criminal case," referring to her connections in law enforcement. She was caught in the act while accepting 20 thousand dollars, after which she was placed in a detention center.
Currently, the investigation is also examining the possible involvement of officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in this extortion scheme.
