The explosion occurred yesterday at 3:00 PM local time and was reported by the official Chinese news agency Xinhua. It sent thick clouds of smoke into the air and caused noticeable tremors in the region.
Active rescue operations are currently underway. The forces from the autonomous region, as well as rescuers from the city of Bugat and the Kundulun area, are involved in the operation. More than 170 police officers, over 70 units of equipment, and five drones have been dispatched to the scene. Fire and rescue services have also sent more than 130 personnel to the site.
The causes of the explosion, which triggered significant tremors in the vicinity, remain unknown and are under investigation.
