According to information provided by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Akhror Burkhan, the court's decision was made in the case of a mass brawl that occurred in Dubai. As a result of this incident, eight citizens of Uzbekistan were sentenced to life imprisonment, while another was given a 25-year prison term.

The diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in the UAE are actively working to investigate the situation and protect the rights of their citizens, as stated in the official message.

The incident, in which two Uzbeks lost their lives, occurred in April 2025 at a gas station. According to local law enforcement, one of the participants was fatally stabbed on the spot, while the second fell into a coma and later died in the hospital.

The Dubai Prosecutor's Office clarified that the conflict arose between two previously acquainted groups and was related to a long-standing personal dispute. The participants of the brawl were identified through surveillance camera footage and witness testimonies, after which they were detained in a hotel in another emirate. The case was referred to the prosecutor's office for further investigation.

On April 25 of last year, Uzbek diplomats met with the leadership of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department and reported the detention of 15 citizens of Uzbekistan, against whom investigative actions are ongoing.

Furthermore, the UAE authorities emphasized that the increasing cases of offenses involving citizens of Uzbekistan could negatively impact the visa-free regime currently in place between the two countries.
