
The agency noted that there are no natural reservoirs for this virus in the country. The Nipah virus is reportedly found in certain tropical species of bats that are not present in Tajikistan.
It was also emphasized that the winter period significantly reduces the possibility of transmission of the virus from animals to humans.
“Recent cases of illness registered in India over the past two to three months, where the population exceeds 1 billion people and is at a great geographical distance from us, do not pose an epidemiological threat to Tajikistan,” the Ministry added.
The agency also emphasizes that there is currently no need to tighten control, as appropriate sanitary and epidemiological measures are already in place at the borders of the country.
Additionally, all food products, including juices, are inspected by competent authorities.
At the same time, a local outbreak of the Nipah virus is observed in India.
It is important to note that the Nipah virus is typically found in tropical regions. In January 2026, an outbreak of the disease caused by this virus was recorded in the Indian state of West Bengal, near Kolkata.
